A super day with Paula

It's been a little over a year when I heard her talk at the FLEX (Foundations of Leadership Excellence) offered by OCCI (Organizational Change Consultants, Inc.) A friend of mine invited me to take the program as it has yielded positive results in his life.

I was at a crossroads for a long time. I wanted to give it a shot. And I did give it a shot. NO REGRETS!!! I even took the ALC (Advanced Leadership Course) and LEAP (Leadership Excellence Achievement Program). Paula witnessed my journey all throughout.

Paula is instrumental to the better version of myself, along with the other facilitators of OCCI and the whole community.

And so this first episode with her is really special because I'm proud to say that JUNEJOURNOTV is a product of the unconditional support and love of my LEAP family, batch Breakthrough that I first saw through her.

See you all in JUNEJOURNOTV!

Shaking things up to make a difference

I have first met Enzo in Explora Movers 2 (TED Talk of Philippine tourism) when he passionately spoke about Siklesa - tricycle and kalesa in one.

What amazed me about him was how he delivered his presentation with fierceness and so much excitement that his energy transferred to me immediately. I instantly felt a connection with his ideas and I just couldn't wait to see siklesa in person.

And so there was the interview and when I read his bio just before we started rolling the cameras, I found out he was also the brain behind the other four brands - My Shopping BoxSicilian RoastAnte, and Missis Sea. Yes, at 24 years old. I had the privilege of sitting down with this persistent individual who didn't (and wouldn't) stop to make his ideas happen.

I just can't wait for you guys to watch this episode as we get to know the person behind these brands who like to shake things up and learn how he took action to turn his vision into reality.

Let's go for #zerowaste

I know this is going to be challenging to a lot of people. But it would also please you to know that #junejourno is now collaborating with some organizations and individuals so we can help them with #zerowaste practice.

This video below really helped me pursue this other #passionproject to go for #greenearth.

Video credits to BUZZFEED FYI.

Right now, we are looking for volunteers (organizations and individuals) who are willing to collaborate to promote this cause for our environment.

Likewise, we are looking for organizations and individuals to volunteer themselves as our subjects to practice #zerowaste for 30 days.

Email me at junehebrew@gmail.com. :)

Also check this article to #endcatastrawphe.

End the #cataSTRAWphe

It was almost two years now when I saw this video. Each time I watch it, I still cringe and cry and ask how this could be happening.

There are millions of animals hurt on a daily basis just because we are not taking responsibility to take care of our environment.

Video credits to LAD BIBLE.

So I vowed to myself to support products that help and promote #greenearth.

For each straw you will purchase, P5 will go to a non-profit organization that promotes clean and green environment. (Right now, I'm in the process of choosing one so if you have any suggestions, please comment below.)

Cabalen and Vegan Options

Since I turned vegan, I seldom go to buffet as ordinary buffets usually would just have food that have been slaughtered as main course and I would usually be left eating leaves. I'm not complaining but if you say pay an amount for a buffet and not get your money's worth, you'd have a pretty guilty feeling inside.

So when friends invited me out to buffet in Cabalen in Market, Market (and their treat may I gratefully say), I said yes. (I could use a treat since I've recently shifted to the budget system taught by Millionaire Mind Intensive. Click here for the article, How to Budget Like a Millionaire.)

I started walking around the buffet area and checked which food I could eat which had no any meat (including fish), crustacean, eggs, and dairy. And I'm not dismayed by the choices. First they offer a lot of salad combination and variety of dressing which includes my favorite vinaigrette and pipino dressing.

They also have steamed vegetables - okra, eggplant, string beans - combined with different kinds of atcharas.

(The picture has been taken much later so some vegetables are not there anymore.)

As for their desserts, they have monggo porridge, sweetened camote, gulaman with beans and rice crispies, suman with dessicated coconut and fruit slices and rice cake.

All this for P378 only. Unlimited. :)

So if you're around Market Market with non-vegan friends and want to eat in a restaurant buffet with vegan options, you may try Cabalen in Market Market.

I wouldn't recommend it though if you're spending alone on your food for this amount. There are variety of choices you can explore around the area.

That will be the topic of my future blog. (Watch out for it!)

If you want me to check out other restaurants, let me know.

WCOPA Team PH 2019 and the crabs

This is a positive post. :)

Filipinos, unfortunately and very sadly to say, are known for crab mentality - pulling down those who are climbing to the top to join them. As part of the delegation for #wcopateamph2018, I have heard my fair share of thoughts from the many people around me who call it a scam or a business. As I was asking for donations and sponsorships from the people I know, a friend told me she was sorry for she didn't believe in what WCOPA is for to which I replied, "It's okay. I believe in myself." I didn't know the connection between my response and her message. All I knew was I wouldn't give power to negative thoughts. Not that time.

As I listened to Tito Gerry (National Director for WCOPA Philippines and our Tatay) during the orientation of #wcopateamph2019, he felt there was a need to remind the whole team that there would be people who would doubt the legitimacy, credibility, and reputation of the WCOPA (World Championships of the Performing Arts).
For 22 years now, this is one impression a lot of those who have no personal knowledge of what WCOPA is all about have in mind.

Mind you - 22 years. And they still haven't stopped. Twenty-two years and they still have the same thinking. Twenty-two years after the only world talent olympics has produced Filipinos who were soon to become premiere performers of the Philippines, no, they still haven't bit their tongue.Jed MadelaJonalyn Viray, Rachel Alejandro, Rhap Salazar, Junior New System, 4th Impact, the list goes on. And the crabs are so busy thinking about the impossible.

Now don't get me wrong. I am probably once a crab or twice or thrice... Until I realized...

To join this competition, you will have to raise a lot of funds to support yourself and that is true. Everyone who flew abroad to represent the Philippines either saved on their own or raised funds by knocking on doors completely baring their soul just to get to their dream of representing their country. It was no easy feat. Rejection after rejection. Condescending comments every now and then. Name it, many contestants have endured more than what ordinary people can imagine.

But dreams have costs. You ought to invest in your dreams. Be it time, money, or effort, you will need to invest something no matter what your dreams maybe. Pursuing your dreams will drain your mind, will exhaust your emotions, will tire your body and sometimes pursuing your dreams could even pinch your soul. So what? Only the true dreamer and warrior knows it's worth it at the end.
So to #wcopateamph2019, don't let the negative voices of the people around you bring you down. If it's your dream, just go for it. Stand tall and proud and go on that stage. It's about your passion and not any amount of recognition you would get when you get there. Besides, to have represented your country and bare your soul to the judges, that is in itself, a win, a victory which your detractors wouldn't know the taste of for their too busy thinking of defeat.

Bless them negative people. And don't give them the power over your soul. Your mind may drain, your emotions may exhaust, your body may tire, but don't let them steal your soul. For your soul is beautiful and it's ready to be seen through your creative expression.

Orientation is now ongoing. For serious dreamers only. :)

How to Budget Like a Millionaire

I recently attended the 3rd Millionaire Mind Intensive from August 31-September 02 at the SMX, Mall of Asia.

One of my key take-aways is how millionaires have devised a way to budget their money so they are able to grow it exponentially.

So how do millionaires budget their money? Let me walk you through the budgeting system that could change your financial life. I've recently started doing it even with only a few hundreds in my pocket.

1. Financial Freedom Account (FFA-10%) - This Account is where you put a part of your money that you'd be investing in the future. Be it stocks, mutual funds, bonds, forex, or real estate, what important is that this Account of yours remain untouched until you have found an opportunity to invest it. And by investment, we mean, that you should put this money where you'd most feasibly get a stream of passive income.

2. Long-Term Savings for Spending (LTSS-10%) - If you're planning to buy a new gadget (phone, tablet, laptop, computer) or a pair of new shoes to match your bag and belt, or jewelry, or watch, you get what I mean, don't just spend on them just yet unless you have saved enough to satisfy your shopping needs. And yes! If you have increased what you have saved in this account, who's to say you won't get another car or even a house or your planned around-the-world cruise in no time? (Although I suggest if you're going on vacation to explore the Philippines first!)

3. Education (EDUC-10%) - If you're not learning, you're dying. At one point you will have to grow. Use this account for your continuing learning. Are you planning to take a Master's Degree? Or a PhD? Or perhaps take classes in painting, singing, dancing, photography and other stuff that floats your boat? You can use this to help you advance professionaly in your career or simply help you grow as a person. In my case, I'm starting to fill this jar because I want to take the Quantum Leap next year.

4. Necessities (NEC-55%) - This is your operations fund. Food, gasoline, bills or regular mortgages get into this account. If you find that 55% of your income can't support your regular needs, then you must simplify your lifestyle. You might want to cut on your Starbucks for a little while. Just remember that long-term goals require commitment.

5. Play (10%) - This account is my personal favorite. The best thing about this is that you have to consume this all at once in one month! This is to prevent you from getting so guilty for thinking that you're depriving yourself because you've been saving the other 95% of your income. If you're a spender, it'll be a challenge for you to keep this intact for a month. If you're a saver, you might have a hard time spending this because guilt for you might be the other way around. In one of the stories shared in the training, there was a girl who was so broke she only had 10cents for play. Know what she did? She treated herself with a piece of candy. It wasn't so bad she said. So you see? It's possible.

6. Give (5%) - It's not in the picture, because I've given it! Give back to your church or any charitable institutions of your choice. Or simply give to anybody you feel might be needing your help. Does your pastor like a bicycle? Or maybe feed a street child outside your favorite vegan restaurant! (I'm vegan by the way. :))

The idea here is that no matter how much money you have, you have got to start with something. This budgeting system is a good way to start and I believe that because I've heard first-hand how Mac and Thaddeus (our speakers) stuck to this system as they shared to us their walk before their talk.

How to Properly Communicate in the Workplace

It's always a joy to hold a seminar but it's twice the fun when your audience is no less than ministers of the gospel. In a way, it's a dream come true because I know in my heart I'd be able to make a difference not just with my attendees but with the people they oversee as well.

It was a fun-filled day as we talked about social graces in the professional setting. How does one behave or talk when it's the first meeting? Or how does one talk? What topics are appropriate conversation starters?

We capped off the training with fool proof tips on how one can claim for an undelivered performance and how one can thank sincerely. Include in this the basics of delivering a bad news and persuading someone without faltering.

Special thanks go to my former English teacher, now a respected colleague, the Director for Center for Language Studies of the New Era University, Dr. Vivian I. Buhain.

I can't wait until our next training.

This training was held on September 06, 2018, Thursday at the Speech Laboratory of NEU.

Watch out for my next blog as I discuss the answers to these questions. :)
